Melissa Huston, being new to the NW and new to Fishing has joined me many times for a boat ride and has learned how to net salmon. However she never reeled in her own until yesterday. After landing one small fish I told her it was time she gave it a try. Within 20 mins the rod went down, all the way down into the water and I thought wow a sturgeon, this will be fun for her. After some reeling and screening my arms hurt and my back is on fire she got the 250’ of line in to find one nice salmon. Didn’t have a scale but the fish was around 35-36”. She said afterwards that will be her last outing for the season so she can end on a high note.
